Not sure how these guys taste but at a site near Bakkagerði the boardwalk went over and around their nesting sites! Very up close and personal.
But these are very tasty!
Ptarmigan, apparently also good to eat!
You were likely to come across Hooter (I think) swans pretty much everywhere, these ones coastal, but they were also in the lakes, streams and fields in the highlands (to the extent that I got into the highlands).
There were geese EVERYWHERE, particularly on this little island in Blönduós
